Privacy policy

This policy explains what Outdoor collects through this website (theoutdoor.in), the waitlist and the Outdoor app, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Who we are

Outdoor is run by [Legal name], [Registered address], India ("Outdoor", "we"). Questions about your data go to team.outdoor.in@gmail.com.

The short version

• We collect what we need to run Outdoor.
• We don't sell your personal data, and we don't use it for advertising.
• You can see, correct or delete your data whenever you like.

The waitlist

When you join the waitlist we collect your first name, your email address and the time you joined. We use them to tell you when the app is ready. They're stored in a Google Sheet that only the Outdoor team can open, until you ask us to remove them or the waitlist closes.

This website

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, and GitHub records visitors' IP addresses for security under its own privacy statement. The waitlist form and the count of people waiting are served by Google Apps Script, so Google receives your IP address when the page loads them. Everything else, including the fonts and the map, comes from this site.

We don't use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Your browser keeps a few small things for this site on your device: your light or dark theme, whether you've seen the opening countdown, your best Lights out time and, until you close the tab, your waitlist card. None of it is sent to us.

The Outdoor app

• Account. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, your email address and, if you set one, a profile photo.
• Profile and follows. Your name, your city and the sports, teams and tournaments you follow, so the app shows what matters to you.
• Location. If you allow it, your phone's location sorts venues by distance and sets your city. Your exact location stays on your phone; only your city is saved.
• Notifications. If you allow them, we store a push token for your device, your notification settings and a record of what was sent, so you don't get the same alert twice.
• Bookings. When you book a venue we store the booking: the venue, the slot, the amount and its status. The venue receives the details it needs to host you.
• Photos, camera and calendar. Used only when you choose a profile picture or add a booking to your calendar.
• Support. If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can help.

Who else handles your data

A few service providers run parts of Outdoor for us, and use your data only to do that:

• Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage
• Google: Sign-In, the waitlist sheet and Apps Script, and Firebase Cloud Messaging for Android notifications
• Apple: Sign in with Apple and notifications on iPhone
• Expo: delivering push notifications
• GitHub: hosting this website

When paid bookings go live, a licensed payment provider will handle payments. We won't store your card details. Beyond these providers, we share personal data only when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Account data stays until you delete your account. Booking records may be kept for longer where the law requires it, for example for tax and accounting. Waitlist details stay until you ask us to remove them or the waitlist closes.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it or erase it, withdraw your consent, and raise a grievance. Email team.outdoor.in@gmail.com and we'll reply within 30 days. You can delete your app account yourself at any time: see Delete your account.

Children

Outdoor is meant for people aged 18 and over. If you're under 18, use Outdoor only with a parent or guardian's permission.

Keeping data safe

Data travels over encrypted connections, access is limited to the people who need it, and each account can only read its own private data.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app or by email when a change is significant.
